About BodyMind & Spine and Dr Tat LooChiropractic Care: Natural Healthcare ChoicesBodyMind & Spine (est. 2007) was founded by Dr Tat Loo, chiropractor, to broaden Dunedin's natural drug-free healthcare choices. His mission is to bring highly effective, affordable and personalised chiropractic care to you and the people you care about in Otago. Tat undertook his undergraduate training at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic, completing the five year B.Chiro in 2005. He first worked in private practice in the Wairarapa. Tat continued with his postgraduate studies through the Newcastle School of Medicine and Public Health (NSW), graduating with a Master of Pain Medicine in 2010. Tat also holds a B.Tech (1st class honours) from Massey. He spent several years working in the packaging, telecommunications and high tech industries. Outside of chiropractic practice, Tat instructs in Tai Chi and Chi Kung (traditional Chinese energy circulation exercises) to increase inner health and vitality. BodyMind & Spine is proud to be associated with our healthcare colleagues at Sportsmed Otago and at ChiroWorks (New Lynn, Auckland).

Chiropractor Registration in NZIn New Zealand, chiropractors complete comprehensive statutory licensing exams and continuing education requirements. Chiropractors are trained to identify health conditions requiring medical follow up. They understand the holistic links between mental, social and physical health, and are able to take and read x-rays. Safe & Effective for Your SpineA landmark 1979 New Zealand Royal Commission of Inquiry ascertained that chiropractic care was extremely safe and effective for specific problems relating to the spine, joints and nerves and that the New Zealand public should have greatly widened access to chiropractic care. Chiropractors, ACC and the Health SystemChiropractors have been accepted for ACC coverage for many years, but currently they have limited or no role in the public health and hospital system. This may reflect various historical differences between the chiropractic and medical professions. Positive trends in integrative medicine and increasing acceptance of so-called complementary and alternative therapies (CAM) are emerging and very encouraging. Choose a Chiropractor who works best for YouThere are approximately 400 practicing chiropractors in New Zealand. Most are North American, Australian or New Zealand trained. Depending on their individual training and background, healthcare professionals (including chiropractors) can vary considerably in their treatment approach and philosophy. At BodyMind & Spine we recommend that you seek out those health professionals who understand your needs and work best for you. Take charge of your own health and wellbeing. |
