About BodyMind & Spine and Dr Tat Loo

Offering Natural Healthcare Choices by NZ registered Chiropractor

BodyMind & Spine (est. 2007) was founded by Dr Tat Loo, chiropractor, in order to broaden the natural, drug-free healthcare choices available in Dunedin.

Tat obtained his B.Chiro, a five year course, from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic, completing his training in 2005. He has most recently worked in private practice in the Wairarapa and is a member of both the New Zealand Chiropractors Association and the New Zealand College of Chiropractic Alumni Association.

Tat also has a B.Tech (1st class honours) from Massey University, Palmerston North and has worked for several years in industry and management consulting.  Outside of chiropractic practice, Tat instructs Tai Chi and Chi Kung (traditional Chinese energy circulation exercises) classes focussed on increasing inner health and vitality.

BodyMind & Spine is proud to be associated with our healthcare colleagues at Sportsmed Otago and at ChiroWorks (Auckland).

Chiropractor Registration in NZ

In New Zealand, chiropractors have to complete comprehensive statutory licensing exams and continuing education requirements.  Doctors of Chiropractic are also trained to identify health conditions requiring medical follow up, understand the holistic links between mental, social and physical health, order, take and read x-rays.

Safe & Effective for Your Spine

A landmark 1979 New Zealand Royal Commission of Inquiry ascertained that chiropractic care was extremely safe and effective for specific problems relating to the spine, joints and nerves and that the New Zealand public should have greatly widened access to chiropractic care.

Chiropractors & ACC

Chiropractors have been accepted for ACC coverage for many years, but currently have limited or no role in the public health and hospital system.  This may reflect various historical differences between the chiropractic and medical professions, differences which are waning due to positive trends in integrative medicine and increasing acceptance of so-called complementary and alternative therapies (CAM).

Choose a Chiropractor who works best for You

There are approximately 300-400 practicing chiropractors in New Zealand, most of them American, Australian or New Zealand trained.  It is important to note that depending on their individual training and background, healthcare professionals (including chiropractors) can vary considerably in their treatment approach and healthcare philosophy.  Our suggestion at BodyMind & Spine is to always seek out those health professionals who work best for you.  Take charge of your own health, wellbeing and performance objectives.
